Halo Escalation 9.

Hi guys, its that awesome time of the month again when Escalation comes out, and boy is it a good one! So if you remember last time we left off with a cliff hanger, Blue team (John -aka- master chief, Fred, Linda and Kelly) found the Didact still alive on a Forerunner planet. This issue starts a little differently.

We start on the previous day, right after John causes the Didact to fall through the portal on Mantles approach. We see him slip to Gamma Halo, where Black is located. We see Black locate the Didacts armour, not knowing what it is, then the Didact awakens, and continues to slaughter Black team. 

After this the Didact finds the monitor of the composers forge, 859 Static Carillon, wandering Gamma, trying to find Gamma Halo’s monitor. The Didact promptly orders the monitor to take him to the Composers forge. After we cut back to Blue, who are on the unknown Forerunner installation (the composers forge). They come across 6 composers, which is when the Didact finds them. He appears with his Promethean army, newly composed from the residents of New Phoenix, interestingly he also holds Gamma Halo’s activation index.

The Promethean engage Blue, meanwhile the Didact and the monitor discuss his plans, we see in the sky Gamma Halo appear out of slipspace. The Didact makes ready to repair it with the composers, and quickly leaves for it. However Static Carillon disagrees with the Didacts use of the new Prometheans from Phoenix, as they bring, terror, rage, fear and confusion to the Promethean ranks.

 

This breaks the Monitors agreement with the Didact thus, the Monitor helps Blue escape from the Forge, and to Gamma Halo. As they arrive the Didact engages Blue once again, poised to kill Kelly Master Chief sneaks up behind him, stabbing a knife into his right eye. The comic ends with the Didact grabbing Chief’s helmet, and crushing it with his hand, thus the broken visor in the Halo 5 trailer.

This was awesome, it was nice to see how Black died, even if it was a little bitter sweet. We also see Blue team kicking Promethean ass! And using the new weapons. And that cliff hanger, obviously Chief never makes it back to the UNSC, but why, and will Blue be with him? We know Fred will be in Halo 5 from the trailer, but will Kelly and Linda make it? We find out next issue, as that marks the end of the story arc.

Forum designate [CATALOG]

Hello all, strange title huh? Well I have good reason yesterday while rooting around the Halo Waypoint forums I discovered somthing that has been going on since June that I completely missed, any lore nut out there, stay here, this is big. 

 

On the Waypoint forums a strange entity known as Catalog has started posting (It is a member of the 343 writing team in reality and anything it states is considered cannon) Forum goers immediately started to figure out who this was, it is a surviving member of the Forerunner Catalog, who, at present seems to be on Mars ( this is taking place in 2558) Forum goers, taking the role of ONI researchers have started to question it, and oh my have we received answers. Everything Catalog says is Role Played and this seems to be the new version of “I love bees” from Halo 2 or the rogue AI on B-Net from Halo 3. Catalog has gained us much knowlage, and has revealed surprising revelations about the lore, such as the deaths of the surviving Spartan III’s apart from Tom and Lucy. 

Catalog seems to have access to many ONI and UNSC files, and Forerunner knowlage, but his Covenant knowlage seems to be limited to what reciords the UNSC has. I’ll leave a link where you can read all his posts, and join in with the game. I love stuff like this, its a cool way for 343 to answer questions about the lore, without having to spent money printing media, it also allows us to directly ask questions [Designated Query’s]. Fred from Blue team in Halo 5.

Hi guys, so in the Halo 5 beta trailer we all saw Freds armour in the trailer, but what we didn’t see (or I didn’t see) was confirmation that this is Fred and not just his armour class.

I thought that it was just the same armour, a fun easter egg put in by 343, but it’s much more than that look

 

 

Did you see it? In the first picture there is Braille on his chest, exactly the same as on Chief’s chest, and what does the Braille say? 104, Freds code number. This confirms that this is Fred, and not just some random Spartan IV. Here is Chief’s Braille saying “117” on his left breast plate.

And for any of you unfamiliar with game development the reason why he is so blue is that it is a rendering piece, this s not his final textures. He looks badass!

Halo 5 gameplay breakdown

Yes, so here it is, we have a bit of info from the vid, some stuff we already knew, equal starts for everyone and no armour abilities at all!

First we have a screen of this city map, which reminds me of the skyline map from the Halo 4 dlc.

Next we have the remake of Midship, alot of people will be happy for this one, XD

Here we have a assault rifle, it kinda looks discount, ‘comon UNSC getting cheap are we?

Next the BR in a sweet new skin, I have seen it in a different skin also, so maybe weapon skin customisation instead of unlocking new weapons? Also the red dot sight, that’s kinda big too!

Here we have the Machine pistol seen in Spartan assault, but we know we can’t duel wield, so it’s use is minimal 😦

The DMR also glad to see it back, especially since everyone starts with the same weapon.

A new weapon, a rocket maybe? maybe a grenade launcher? it kinda looks like a rocket in a Spartan laser skin, so a new laser weapon maybe?

Sniper rifle, using the Halo 4 model too, I know alot of people who didn’t like it but I think its alright.

The Aviator armour (well helmet) from Halo 4, I didn’t like it much, but all the armour I have seen so far seems to be going for large visors, so that’s good.

No crotch piece again, sorry Spartans, also the Master chief body?

This is one I found really cool, the blue armour is Freds from the Escalation comic, really really cool!

Notice the lack of armour ability XD also the Defender armour from Halo 4, my favourite YAY!

ok, so I’ll go over this in detail in the next post, Now I want to talk about 343’s other announcement Halo Channel!

As you can see this looks like the waypoint app for the 360, but greatly improved. You can see most of the features in the video above but here they are:
